Access Statement For The Riddings Bed and Breakfast

Introduction

Welcome to The Riddings Farmhouse Bed and Breakfast. We hope that the following information will help you to decide whether our accommodation will be suitable. If there are any areas that you would like to discuss, please do not hesitate to contact us. 

Pre-Arrival
 
• We can be contacted by telephone on 01889 590008 or 0785 7646788 or through our website at www.theriddingsfarm.co.uk.
• This Access Statement is available on our website and in large print format.
• Public Transport: the nearest train station is Uttoxeter (approx 6 miles away). There are buses every hour to Denstone but arrangements can easily be made for a taxi or a member of our family to be waiting for you. 

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
 

For directions to The Riddings, please contact us. The approach to The Riddings is through the grounds of Denstone College.
• The well-maintained tarmac road has several speed bumps.
• There is a large, secure, lit, well-paved area for parking in the farm yard. Assistance with luggage is always available.
• The main entrance of the house is reached by a short, 4' wide, paved ramp.
• The width of the front and porch doors is 2' 6"

Main Entrance & Reception
 
The main entrance and reception hall are on the ground floor, well lit and quarry tiled. Guests are greeted, their luggage taken to their room and invited to sit and take some refreshment before touring the house.
• Check-in is any time after 3.30pm and departure before 11am.
• The bedroom is on the first floor. The staircase is L-shaped and made of light ash wood, steps numbering thirteen, with a handrail on the left.
• Guests' dogs overnight in the ground floor entrance lobby which measures approx 5' by 6'. Food and water bowls, 'Vetbed' and/or a spacious cage are available, as is a secure garden.
• There is a downstairs laundry room and conventional toilet off the reception hall, also quarry tiled.

Public Areas - General (Internal)
 
All the internal doors measure between 2' 2" and 2' 6" inches and are solid and white-painted except the kitchen and dining room doors which are half-glass.
• The smoke alarm is in the reception hall.

Restaurant / Dining Room, Bar & Lounges, Take Away & Cafe
 
• The well lit dining room is accessed from the reception hall. There is one step up into the room. The floor is quarry tiled. There is one substantial farmhouse pine table and wooden chairs with padded seats either with or without arms.
• A large print menu is in the Guest Information pack in the room and also in the dining room and a member of the family is always on hand to offer additional information.
• Special dietary requirements can be catered for with advance warning!
• The well lit sitting room is accessed from the reception hall. It has a polished, dark wooden floor. There are two light-coloured sofas and a stone hearth approx 3" high that stands out in the room approx 2'.
• The sitting room opens onto a patio through white french windows. There is a step down from the windows and two paved steps down from the patio onto the lawn.

Laundry
 
• Please ask a member of the family if you need any laundry doing.

Outdoor Facilities
 
• The Riddings is surrounded by footpaths, mainly through fields accessed by step-over stiles.

Bedrooms
 
• The bedroom is on the first floor and contains a double/twin beds and a full-sized bunk bed. The floor is carpeted. In addition to the television with remote control and subtitle facility, there is a radio, a corded kettle and a small fridge.

Bathroom, Shower-room & WC [Ensuite or Shared]
 
• The ensuite shower room has a cushion-floor covering and a curtained shower with a small step. The shower base measures 2' 5" by 2' 5''. The toilet is conventional and the basin has a mixer tap.

Grounds and Gardens
 

• Guests are welcome to walk around the farm yard and in the fields which are grazed by sheep and cattle. The ground slopes and can be uneven.
